What is a Vampire Facelft?

The name alone can have people shying away from this highly effective treatment. This low impact skin resurfacing procedure uses your own blood’s platelets to fill in spaces that will leave your skin looking fuller and healthier even after one treatment. One of the least invasive forms of injection with no down time. Schedule your consultation at Stellar Skin & Laser today!

With many ways to rejuvenate the face, why look for a better way?

Cosmetic surgery can remove
excess skin and make the person appear younger. But, a surgical facelift
can be more than what’s needed for some people (especially when loss of
shape without extra skin is the main problem).

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers lift the skin away from the bone to restore youthful volume and shape.
But HA fillers can cause problems near the eye. Also, the injector of
HA fillers can chase a wrinkle and create a shape that looks foreign to
the person’s face or even foreign to this planet.

The HA fillers do little to improve skin tone and texture.

Unlike most procedures, the Vampire Facelift (R) offers a way of both restoring shape, and improving tone and texture, as well as literally rejuvenating new and younger tissue!

Here’s how it’s done.

3 Steps of the Vampire FaceLift® Procedure

First, the injector (1) uses HA fillers to create a beautiful shape. (2) Then, the physician isolates growth factors from the patient’s blood.  (3) When these growth factors enter the face (injected by the physician), then muti-potent stem cells become activated to grow new tissue.  This new tissue includes new collagen, new fatty tissue (for smoothness), and new blood vessels (for a healthy glow).

Prepair Your Skin for Spring with Exfoliation

One of the best ways to prepare your dry winter skin for the different Spring climate is to make sure you have a professional exfoliation so that you may start with a clean slate so to speak. Talk to your helpful staff at Stellar Skin and Laser to target the best procedure for your skin type!

Ashley Jones, an account manager,
in Rockville, Md., asked how she could help her skin after a rough
winter. Dermatologists Glenn Kolansky, MD, and Rachel Herschenfeld, MD,
shared their best de-winterizing solutions.

Q: Winter did a number on my face — my skin is dry, flaky, and irritated. How can I give it a fresh start for spring?

Dr. Kolansky’s top picks:

First, don’t make the mistake of over-scrubbing, over-cleaning,
and over-treating. Frosty temperatures may have damaged the outermost
protective layer, exposing facial skin to irritants and bacteria.

Hydration and exfoliation are the keys to smoother skin for spring. Slough off dry skin
cells with a gentle exfoliator like Olay Skin Smoothing Cream Scrub,
which combines a conditioning beta-hydroxy acid formula with microbeads.
Beta-hydroxy acids loosen the dead cells of the epidermis, making room
for new growth.

A mild unscented soap that won’t strip away natural oils, such
as Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser, will reduce moisture loss and
maintain a healthy outer-skin layer. Skip the washcloth and use a
cleaning device like the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System for a
deeper clean. The brush has hundreds of bristles that lift and whisk
away dead skin and dirt.

PhotoFacial Laser Skin Resurfacing Benefits

If you are looking for resurfacing treatments for your skin to help address large pores, rosacea, or other skin issues without the small risks involved with chemical type peels than PhotoFacial at Stellar Skin and Laser might be for you!

The amazing thing about PhotoFacial treatments is that they address almost all aspects of skin aesthetics and structure. By pulsing light onto areas of the skin treatments can get into the deeper levels of the skin which has seen some amazing results from its proponents.

The benefits of intense pulsed light therapy cover almost the entire
spectrum of cosmetic dermatology. When performed by a qualified skin
care specialist, IPLT photofacial treatment can help nearly all aspects
of skin aesthetics and structure.

  • The treatment can help repair small blood
vessels that have become visible, or help eradicate sun spots or other
    pigmentation irregularities.
  • IPLT treatment can help combat acne problems and eliminate large pores.
  • IPLT photofacial therapy is also excellent at treating rosacea and other types of diffuse redness in the skin.
  • By treating a slightly deeper layer of the skin, IPLT photofacials
stimulate collagen growth by simulating minor dermal injuries, thereby
    helping to improve skin texture.
  • The cost of IPLT photofacial treatments is often less than that of laser treatments as well.

Another benefit of IPLT photorejuvenation procedures is that they
allow for additional treatment with chemical peels, microdermabrasion,
and other facial skin treatments that target the outermost layer of
skin, the epidermis. Since IPLT photofacials target deeper layers of the
skin, they can be safely performed in conjunction with other, more
superficial treatments.

Detox and What it Does for Your Body

During the course of our day we come into contact with thousands of contaminants and things that might not be so great for our body. One of the ways that we can combat the build up of these toxins is to do what is called a Detox.

There are many forms of detox, however this article focuses on Infrared Sauna detox techniques and what the treatment provides for a clients body. Clearing our body of these toxins on a consistent basis can far aid our overall heath and help prevent sickness.

The first two parts of this series examined the health advantages of
lymphatic cleansing with rebound exercise, and fasting for the removal
of toxic build-up and internal purification. A third method of
detoxification is through the regular use of a far-infrared sauna. The
benefits of these three stand-alone practices are exponential when
combined and integrated into a healing regimen or health maintenance
program. Any healing protocol should also include an ample supply of
whole foods. Such a comprehensive program advances the healing process
and counters the effects of living in a toxic world.

Far infrared
rays are part of the sun’s natural spectrum. The radiant energy
produced by an infrared sauna is the same as heat from the sun, with the
exclusion of the ultraviolet rays. A heat source, (usually ceramic
heating elements), emits infrared waves that penetrate and relax the
body as increased blood circulation warms the skin. A flood of sweat and
toxins is released through the skin’s open pores as the warm blood
circulates deeper throughout the body.

The infrared sauna is a
powerful means of cellular cleansing as it increases metabolism and
blood circulation. In addition to its use for detoxification it also
relaxes muscles, soothes the spirit and rejuvenates the body.

Far-Infrared Versus Steam Saunas

saunas warm the body instead of heating the surrounding air.
Traditional steam saunas heat the air and require temperatures ranging
from 150 – 200 degrees Fahrenheit to promote perspiration, whereas a
heat range of 110 – 140 degrees in an infrared sauna
produces the same results. The cooler air temperature is more tolerable
to heat-sensitive individuals and allows for sessions of up to
forty-five minutes, nearly twice as long as in a typical steam sauna

If you are looking for the benefit of acid peel, exfoliation, and hydration for your face then a HydraFacial Treatement at Stellar Skin and Laser is exactly what you are looking for! With all the benefits of a acid peel, exfoliation, and hydration services rolled into one, HydraFacial treatments address the most common issues aggressively without your skin stinging or pain caused by normal exfoliation techniques.

Leave with lines visibly reduced and your skin looking hydrated and vibrant with HydraFacial treatments at Stellar Skin and Laser today!

The HydraFacial: A Gentle, Efficient Treatment for Your Skin

I was skeptical when I first heard about the HydraFacial, a treatment
that promises clearer, more hydrated, younger-looking skin immediately. I
am usually a proponent of the no-pain-no-gain school of facials; in
other words, treatments that are heavy on exfoliation and extractions
and that leave my skin inflamed for at least a few hours after.
HydraFacial prides itself on being just as aggressive-without the
aggression. I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype.

The HydraFacial bills itself as
ideal for all skin types and targets hyperpigmentation, oily/congested
pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. It can be done in a derm’s office or a
medical spa and usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. I told the technician I
was concerned about redness and dark spots (she added a red LED light to
my treatment to target inflammation), and settled in as she turned on
the machine. There are four steps:

Step 1: Cleansing and exfoliation. The technician
uses a small “deplaning” tool that opens up pores and sweeps the
uppermost layer of makeup debris and dead skin cells away. It felt like a
spinning toothbrush was being run over my face.

Step 2: Acid peel. Most glycolic peels leave your
skin stinging for a few minutes until they’re washed off, but not this
one. The glycolic/salicylic acid peel is gentle enough that it only
creates the faintest tingle.

5 Things to Know Before Your First Botox Treatment

Going in for your first dermal filler treatment can be a bit overwhelming. Some people have a real diversion to needles and the though of needles going into your face can pose some serious fears for some people. On top of that there are many misconceptions about Botox that this articel makes sure to put to rest. One being that Botox makes your face numb and incapable of forming facial expressions. This is just simply untrue.

As you get older, your skin gets drier and less elastic. Wrinkles can
form around your eyes (also known as ‘crow’s feet’), on your forehead
and on the edges of your lips. If these lines are making you frown when
you look in the mirror, perhaps it’s time to do something about it.
Botox may be the answer.

“Botox is an injection that can relax
muscles and reduce laugh lines creating smoother radiant skin,” says
Heidi Efinger, Nurse Practitioner at Central Wellness in Billings,

Botox is clinically proven to decrease the appearance of
moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles in over 11 million women
and men. If you’ve never had a Botox treatment before, here are five
things you should know before your first visit:

1. Botox is safe.
It’s an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment for the area between your eyes
(your scowl), and crow’s feet. Botox has been used for therapeutic
reasons since 1980 and has been proven safe.

2. Professionals
should be certified. Botox is a medical procedure that takes
approximately 20 minutes and should be done by a certified medical
professional. “You should know who is injecting you and choose a
certified professional who has had Botox experience,” says Efinger.

3. You’re not ‘numb.’ Contrary to popular belief, Botox injections reduce muscle movement, but do not give you a numb feeling.

7 Dermatologists & Plastic Surgeons Weigh in on Botox

In recent years we have seen a turn over from Botox being mainly used by middle aged woman to more and more young women beginning treatments for the signs of crows feat and other wrinkles in the forehead. 7 Different dermatologists and plastic surgeons give their two cents on the issue of; Age and when is it a good time to begin dermal filler type treatments? With different outlooks the article gives a great non biased view on Botox.

“The youngest who have wrinkles in the
forehead, between the eyes or crows feet, are very light skinned women
with a history of excessive sun exposure. In that case, they may be as
young as their late 20s. There are unusual cases of people in their
early to mid twenties who overuse their forehead muscles which become
overgrown and in those cases it may also be appropriate.” –Dr. Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, Dermatologist and Founder of 37 Actives

“Most women under the age of 23 maybe even 25 do not typically need Botox.” –Dr. Stafford Broumand, Plastic Surgeon and Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital

the past, Botox has been thought of as a treatment for middle-aged
women. This is not true anymore and it has been used in women (and men)
at a younger age. It is very common now in patients in the early
thirties. This is usually the time in which expression lines become
deeper and can potentially become permanent. When used correctly, it can
be wrinkle-preventative. Patients in their early twenties are probably
too young, although each situation must be judged individually.” –Dr. Matthew Schulman, Plastic Surgeon

Stellar Skin & Laser: A Boutique MedSpa

1Many women promise themselves that they’ll grow old gracefully, and never go “under the knife”. That’s an easy vow to keep, until the aging process begins and those women start to look like their mothers – or even their grandmothers. Fortunately, thanks to science and technology, surgery is no longer the only option.

This is where Stellar Skin and Laser comes in, to save the day. With their broad range of services, this “boutique med-spa” offers results-driven treatments like those normally only offered by plastic surgeons. From Botox and fillers to laser hair removal and medical grade facials and peels, Stellar Skin and Laser is the preferred facial rejuvenation spa by women all over the East Valley. In fact, owner Cindi Kerzie, RN, CMLT, is the only one in the Phoenix area offering the specialized “Rewind” procedure, which can take five to ten years off of your face, without surgery, in one treatment!

The Rewind uses a combination of technologies, beginning with a resurfacing treatment and including a “Vampire Facelift”, which is the most natural, serious treatment for your face. A couple of weeks after your Rewind, your own collagen begins to rebuild itself and the process takes years off of your face, permanently. The combination of the two technologies causes a stunning synergistic result.

There are so many reasons to opt for the more natural rejuvenation processes offered by Stellar Skin and Laser, most important of which are the costs and the pain involved in plastic surgery.

And, technology has improved so much that they can get great results, without the extended downtime. With surgery, you have to plan on anywhere from one to six months of downtime for a face and neck lift. But even the most aggressive treatment from Stellar Skin and Laser will take less than a week to look great, with no oozing or special creams, and no stitches.

Another advantage to going the natural route is that a facelift is only good for ten to fifteen years. The Rewind treatment buys you time and you may end up deciding, in later years, that you don’t need a facelift because you’re happy with your results.

Even if you’re not ready for anything heavy duty, Stellar Skin can help you to look healthier and vibrant with their medical quality facials and laser hair removal. They also offer weight loss treatments like phentermine and HCG, B12 injections and ultrasound cavitation fat reduction, which can help you to lose two to five inches in one treatment – painlessly and permanently.

And, if acne is a problem, they offer teen facials and other options that can clear it up in a couple treatments. Acne scars, both new and old, can also be treated, with terrific results.

Common sense ways to keep skin looking young and healthy – drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, remove makeup at night – only go so far. So if you would like to age naturally, but not look old, Stellar Skin and Laser has lots of options that make your skin look more refreshed, healthier and more glowing.
